Bicycling - Paved Trails

Currently a 5.3 mile section of paved trail is open from the Croft Mine Park in Crosby and extends to Riverton.

Bicycling in the Brainerd-Crosby-Deerwood area is on a roll. With the first phase completed, bikers flocked to the new trail in the summer of 2006 which extends from the Croft Mine Park in Crosby to Riverton.

This is a very special trail receiving rave reviews for the rolling terrain and beautiful vistas available throughout the unique environment of the CCSRA (See below).

The Paul Bunyan trail will soon be enhanced by linkage to the new Cuyuna Lakes Trail. It will extend from east Brainerd at Lum Park through the rugged Cuyuna area of Crosby-Ironton and eventually all the way to Aitkin. See Map

Mountain Biking

The finest mountain biking found anywhere in the Midwest is emerging within the Cuyuna State Recreation Area.

Planned development of 40 miles over the next several years. Four different levels of challenge - easy to very difficult, is planned.

The area is currently open to off and on road (gravel) biking throughout the 5,000 acre state recreation area. Many believe this will become the premier off-road biking recreation area in the state.

The plan is nearly complete for a multi-level mountain biking course built during the spring and summer of 2009. This course will feature beginner, intermediate and expert courses. The area may host mountain biking events.
