Welcome to the Cuyuna Lakes Trail!

John Schaubach - New Mountain Biking Hotspot on the Cuyuna Range! The Cuyuna Lakes Trail Association exists to promote, create, and maintain paved bicycling trails connecting various communities in and around the area known formerly as the Cuyuna Iron Range.

Biking, Mountain Biking, In-Line Skating (or Roller Blading), Running, Walking, Skiing, Hiking, Geo-Caching, Hunting and Fishing activities are all available in the Cuyuna State Recreation Area!

Weaving its way through towering pines, skirting the edges of Minnesota's newest lakes, and winding quietly under the cries of bald eagles, a trail connects people to people. The exciting Cuyuna Lakes State Trail is a multi-purpose state trail through the five-thousand acre Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area (CCSRA). See Route Map.

Trail News! The trail will covers over twenty miles and will be an important link in the overall trail system of the central Minnesota Lakes region. On the west, the trail will ultimately connect to the Paul Bunyan Trail in Brainerd/Baxter, while on the east, it will run to Aitkin generally following the Mississippi River and the Highway 210 corridors.

Currently the trail runs from Riverton to the Deerwood city limits, just south of the Hallett Community Center.

Helping to pave the wayCuyuna Lakes Trail Association

With local help and support, a dream to create the Cuyuna Lakes State Trail was born; its purpose being to preserve and yet share the recreation area, encouraging a variety of outdoor recreational activities.

The CLTA believes that, when completed, this trail network will create an enhanced sense of identity and unity for the communities involved.

Please give your resources the respect they deserve, thank you!
